Message from Principal

Dear CMS Community

I am sure you would have heard or read by now that ACT schools are planning and preparing for a return to face to face teaching and learning in the coming weeks.

From a position at the end of last term that Term 2 would be Learning from Home for its entirety, I am pleased to let you know Canberra Montessori School will now return to face to face teaching from Monday 18 May.

Prior to this, Friday 15 May will be a pupil free day for all (including children of essential workers) as we transition back to being in school. For this day, Directors will provide activities for children and families through the Google Classroom, but there won’t be any discrete teaching, lessons or online sessions. Also, there won’t be any provision for children at school on this day, with the exception of Snowgum, which will remain open as normal.

As always, the health and wellbeing of our school community is an absolute priority. We will be taking steps to ensure that our school is a safe environment for everyone. I have attached advice from the ACT Chief Health Officer which is guiding our approach.

I will be in touch in the days ahead to provide further details as our return plans are finalised; it is inevitable that there will be some adjustments and modifications to the way in which we would operate under what would be considered ‘normal’ circumstances.

Thank you for being so patient and understanding during this period. I look forward to seeing everyone back in school soon (from the appropriate distance!).

As always, please don’t hesitate to be in touch with any questions or queries.

Kindest regards,

Rael
