From the Principal
Dear School Community,
Welcome back everyone!!
We are now well into the first few weeks of what will be an exciting Term One. Our staff have returned from a well-deserved break, both refreshed and excited to commence another year supporting our students on their Montessori journey.
This year we have engaged with the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) as a staff to develop our understanding of ‘Assessment’ in the shifting sands of educational trends. By collegially developing our understanding of ‘Assessment’ it is envisaged we will be able to refine how we report on the ‘progress’ of each individual student, to compliment the regulatory standardised A-E achievement scale.
Collegially, we will also be looking closely at our Montessori practice, seeking to build our depth of understanding and service provision within this framework. 2017 will be an exciting year for Canberra Montessori School as we engage with external stakeholders to highlight the value of Montessori both locally and on the national arena. I look forward to sharing these initiatives with you throughout the coming year.
I take this opportunity, once again to welcome all new staff and parents to our school and strongly encourage you to attend our Annual Community Gathering picnic on 20th February, where you will be able to receive some insight into the direction of our school, meet new staff and be excited by the array of opportunities to engage with and support your child’s learning and our school.
As with last year, I will be on the pathway each Monday morning and some afternoons. I look forward to discussing your Montessori journey and the exciting learning pathway your children have embarked upon.
