At Canberra Montessori School, our community is enriched through collaboration between families, educators and staff. Our working groups provide meaningful opportunities for families to contribute to school life in ways that reflect our shared values of Respect, Connectedness and Curiosity.
Each working group works in partnership with the school, with a clear purpose and shared understanding of how ideas are developed, supported and implemented.
Parents & Friends (P&F) Working Group
The Parents & Friends (P&F) Working Group plays an important role in building connection within our school community.
The group supports community events, social opportunities and fundraising initiatives that enhance the experience of children and families at CMS. This may include gatherings, celebrations and contributions to school projects.
The P&F Working Group works collaboratively with school leadership to ensure that all initiatives align with the values and priorities of the school. Parent and staff leads help guide planning, communication and coordination.
Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) Working Group
The RAP Working Group supports the development and implementation of our Reconciliation Action Plan.
This includes building respectful relationships, increasing understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives, and embedding meaningful practices within our school community.
Our work is guided by the Narragunnawali: Reconciliation in Education program, which supports schools across Australia to develop and implement Reconciliation Action Plans in meaningful and practical ways.
The working group collaborates with staff, families and external partners to guide this work in a thoughtful and culturally respectful way.
Sustainability Working Group
The Sustainability Working Group supports our commitment to caring for the environment and fostering respect for the natural world.
This group may contribute to initiatives such as gardening, waste reduction, sustainable practices and participation in programs such as the ACT Sustainable Schools Program.
The working group collaborates with staff and children to create meaningful, hands-on experiences that connect sustainability with everyday life at CMS.
