About

Over 100 years ago, Maria Montessori encouraged educators to “follow the child” and in doing so she left us with not only a system of education but a way of life.

Here at CMS, we offer an authentic Montessori experience to every child. We believe that when children are placed in a prepared environment they are capable of great work.

Children begin their journey at CMS in our parent – toddler environment at the age of 18 months, where parents learn to foster their child’s independence. By the time the child has left our care at the end of Cycle 3, at 12 years of age, they emerge as confident, joyful scholars. They enjoy the process of discovery, and it is truly this passion for learning that lasts a lifetime.

When you arrive at our school, located in the Canberra suburb of Holder, I think you will be struck by our beautiful “learnscape” and the attention to detail of our classrooms. Schools are about communities, and we see our school as a connected village of classrooms unified by a desire to provide the best education to each child.

As Maria Montessori once said, “Education is a natural process carried out by the individual, and is acquired not by listening to words, but by experiences in the environment.” We like to believe that at our school we have created a wonderful atmosphere for children to learn and develop.

Choosing a school for your child is an important decision. It is important to find a school that shares your values and outlook on life. At CMS we offer your family a supportive community for your parenting journey.
