The Canberra Montessori School is governed by the Canberra Montessori Society Board. The Board is responsible for creating and steering the strategic direction for the school, as well as ensuring that as an organisation we are meeting our educational, regulatory and legal requirements. The Board delegates all operational matters to the Principal and supervises the Principal accordingly.
Who can be on the Board?
Board members must be financial members of the Canberra Montessori Society. One society membership is included with the school fees for each family, and it is up to the family which adult member represents them in the Society. However, anyone who wishes to support the activities of the Canberra Montessori Society may apply to become a member or make donations. The Board looks to have members with a range of skills and experience spanning governance, finance and compliance.
Please note that there are also opportunities for you to be involved on subcommittees of the Board without being a full member; please read the Board Information Pack on the Board Information Pack – 2024 for more details.
How are members elected?
Members are elected at the Annual General Meeting which is usually held in March each year. They must read the Board Information Pack and Complete a Nomination Form to stand for election. These resources are available on our AGM-2023-Board-and-Subcom-Nomination-Form
